Maxwelton Braes Transforms for ‘The Shining’ Screening Oct. 28

Maxwelton Braes Lodge and Thyme Cuisine bring a Halloween celebration to Baileys Harbor with an immersive screening of Stephen King’s creepy classic The Shining on Oct. 28.

For one night, Maxwelton Braes will be transformed into a living set with rooms and props reminiscent of the classic film. The evening starts with a cocktail hour and guests are encouraged to wander the halls of the lodge and discover nods to the film sprinkled throughout. Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1920s attire to fully immerse in the 1920s cocktail bar inspired by the film. And, as it happens…Maxwelton Braes was built in 1929.

After primed for a creepy evening, attendees will take their seats and enjoy the film on a 15-foot screen with an intermission to include a cash bar and gourmet movie snacks. Generous prizes will be awarded to those dressed in ‘20s attire.

For those who wish to linger longer, Maxwelton will offer a Fright Night room package to include an evening in a lodge room.

The cocktail hour starts at 7 pm, with the film beginning at 8 pm. Tickets for the screening (including one cocktail and some snacks) are $30. For a Fright Night stay at the lodge in a room for two people, the cost is $99. Tickets are on sale at maxweltonbraes.com/shining.
