• The Door County Information Services Committee will meet June 3 at the Door County Government Center in Sturgeon Bay. An update on the status of the Norlight Communications proposal to build a fiber pipeline from Sturgeon Bay to Sister Bay is expected.

• The Gibraltar Booster Club hosts its annual golf shootout fundraiser June 12 at Maxwelton Braes Golf Course. Funds go to support Gibraltar athletics. The event features a $10,000 hole-in-one prize. The 3:30 pm start for the scramble format will cost $45 for nine holes, cart, two beverage tickets and one picnic style meal ticket. Proceeds support Gibraltar athletics. • Sturgeon Bay water rates will jump 31 percent June 1. The city’s water rates have not been adjusted since 1995. The move would mean a customer using 4,000 gallons of water in a year would pay $64 more annually.

Jacksonport recycling is pushed back to Saturday, May 30, due to Maifest.

• The Village of Sister Bay and Sister Bay Advancement Association is sponsoring a Village Logo Contest, requesting submissions from the many talented individuals in Door County. Judging of all logo submissions will take place at the Door County Festival of the Arts Saturday, Aug.15. A cash prize of $250 will be awarded to the creator of the winning logo. • Voting has begun for Ephraim’s 2009 Fyr Bal Chieftan. Nominees are Paul Wilson, Walt Fisher, and George Carey. Ephraim voters, taxpayers and business owners can vote at the visitor center until 3 pm June 19. Fyr Bal is held June 19 – 21.

Baileys Harbor will host Institute in a special Friday night Door County League Baseball game May 29 at 7 pm.
