MDMC Announces Line-Up for Summer Concerts

Ministry Door County Medical Center (MDCMC) announces a stellar line-up of musical diversity for the whole family on Tuesday evenings in July. Performing on the hospital’s green space on 16th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay (next to the Community Garden), four concerts are scheduled in July offering residents and visitors free concerts featuring four different national touring acts.

The series begins July 7 at 7 pm with Cavern Beat. Special guest Dorothy Scott will open the show with special guests from LEAP – The Human Kindness Project. The primary mission of Cavern Beat is to bring to life the excitement of the Beatles’ original recordings and live performances from the Cavern Club era onwards. Critics the world over have agreed that the group has the sound, energy, and excitement of the Beatles, second to none.

On July 14 at 7 pm, Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons will perform. This Americana folk rock band started in Appleton, and had performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan and the Late Night with David Letterman.

Patchouli will perform on July 21. Nationally touring, award-winning songwriter Julie Patchouli and master guitarist Bruce Hecksel light up the air with sparking acoustic sounds and their powerful contagious chemistry. They blend elements of folk, pop, flamenco and jazz with world beat rhythms.

The Snowbirds are coming to the county on July 28. Alt-country is a genre of music that allows for realistic personalities and stories to be shared with the masses behind a version of sound that celebrates Americana while not needing to abide by the boundaries of a once-rigid genre like country.

All concerts are free of charge. In case of rain all concerts will be held upstairs at the Door County Fire Company, 38 S. 3rd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.493.5979.
