Meat-Free Options at Roots Inn and Kitchen

The Sister Bay inn and kitchen has made a name for itself among those who eat meat-free diets – or who at least go meatless for a meal.

“The menu has always been vegetarian friendly – the tacos are the big vegetarian seller – but this year we added the broccoli ‘wings,’ and that has put it over the top,” said Frank Maloney, who serves customers alongside owners Collin and Sara Doherty. “Also, we have added a vegan brat option.”

The whole menu can easily be made vegetarian, and many options are vegan friendly as well. Pictured are the Asian tacos with cauliflower and walnut “meat,” broccoli “wings,” and the mac-and-cheese waffle with truffle oil and garlic basil aioli. The small kitchen is open for outdoor dining and carryout only, Friday – Tuesday, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm. Check for weekly specials at facebook.com/rootsinnandkitchen.
