Meet Local Children’s Authors

Authors Julie House and Kimber Leewood will chat with book lovers and sign their books Sept. 17 during Sturgeon Bay’s Harvest Fest. Downtown’s 3rd Avenue will be closed to vehicles, and vendors will be lining the street. House and Leewood will sign books in the booth in front of Novel Bay Booksellers, 44 N. 3rd Ave.

House, the author of the five-book Furables series – appropriate for young readers, and all based on true events – will be available 9 am – 12 pm. Her stories feature animals as the main characters, and each book presents a valuable life lesson. House is also an artist, and the books’ thoughtful illustrations resonate with both kids and adults.

Leewood, the author of Applewood Stables Breeze, will be available 12-4 pm to share stories about Breeze, the energetic and curious young horse in her book who decides to see what lies beyond Applewood Stables. As exciting as his adventure is, Breeze learns that there’s no place quite like home. Leewood also is an illustrator who uses vibrant colors to create fun pictures in the book. She’s currently completing her second book.
