“Meet the Warrens” at Crossroads

The Sunday in The Village program on Aug. 12 at Crossroads at Big Creek features an ice cream social, a trombone performance by The Bone Boys, and a presentation of “Meet the Warrens.”

Nan and Jerry Krause will assume the roles of the Warrens – the pioneer family that built and lived in the Warren House. The Warrens were also involved in the Civil War, keepers of Cana Island Lighthouse, passionately involved in the Temperance Union movement and farming. This informative historical skit will be presented on the porch of the Warren House at 2 pm.

Free family programs are offered Monday through Thursday by Joan Wilkie. These hands-on programs are open to all ages and pre-registration is not required.

The program for Aug. 13 is “School Days in 1900,” where class will be held in Vignes School.

On Aug. 14, families are invited to find butterflies, caterpillars and the plants they eat in “Butterflies Everywhere.”

On Aug. 15, families are invited to “A Country Store,” to learn about the storekeeper and items sold in the 1900s.

The Collins Learning Center and The Historical Village at The Crossroads are open daily from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, and are located at 2041 Michigan Street.
