Meeting to Watch: Seasonal RV Park Proposed in Gardner

The Town of Gardner’s Plan Commission will consider a request July 25 to operate a seasonal RV park where a mobile-home park used to be in the 3400 block of County CC, said Plan Commission chair Mark Lentz.

He said neighbors of the property have been sent the plans that the town received from the Goetz family. Lentz said he expects to hear opposition from some of those neighbors during the commission’s July 25 meeting.

“It’s not going to be a nice meeting,” he said.

Plans for the proposed Goetz RV Park, which would be a division of Goetz’s Resort, seek approval of site rentals by the day, week, month and season, which would run April 15 – Oct. 15.

The site has electric, sewer and water service with 18 slabs; was approved for up to 22 units by the County of Door; and includes an on-site sewage system for all the units, according to the project plans.

To convert the site for RV use, the proposal calls for widening the driveways to a minimum of 35 feet to accommodate long RVs, which could be up to 53 feet in length.

Other improvements in the plans include planting a buffer strip of trees between the RV units and County CC, upgrading the water hookups to be able to connect with RVs, and changing the electric system to accept RV plug-ins.

The RV park’s office would be located in the old postal building on the south end of the park.

Park rules included with the plans call for limiting each RV site on the property to one RV and two vehicles. The daily check-in time would be 1-5 pm; checkout time would be 11 am; and “quiet time” would run 10 pm – 8 am.

Though a maximum of two pets, which would need to be registered at the office, could be allowed at an RV site, the plans state that dog breeds that would not be allowed include pit-bull mixes and rottweilers.
