Merry-Time Festival of Trees Returns Nov. 16 – Dec. 10

After a successful first season in 2012 in which nearly two dozen festively decorated trees could be found throughout the Door County Maritime Museum, the “Merry-Time Festival of Trees” returns in 2013.

The festival will run from Nov. 16 through Dec. 10 with visitors invited to see what is expected to be an even grander extravaganza of trees during regular museum hours as well at special events planned throughout the nearly month-long festival.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enter a raffle in the hopes of winning their favorite tree. Each tree will be decorated with ornaments or “goodies” appropriate to its sponsor.

“Businesses, organizations, artists and creative individuals are invited to donate fully-decorated trees,” said Trudy Herbst, the museum director of development. “A sign with the name of tree sponsors will be prominently displayed with your tree throughout the event.”

To encourage participation on the part of the businesses and organizations, awards will be presented for the trees garnering the highest number of raffle tickets entered for their particular tree.

During the festival, every day will be “kid’s day.” Every child accompanied by an adult will receive free admission to the museum. Other special events include “Tree Tales,” a children’s story hour on Nov. 16; the first installment of the Speaker Series on Nov. 21; and “Santa on the Tug” on Dec. 7.
