Metal Juxtaposition

Bracelet by Ellen Kelly

Edgewood Orchard Galleries will host a jewelry trunk show for Ashbury, New Jersey jeweler Ellen Kelly Oct. 10 – 13. A large selection of Kelly’s colorful jewelry will be displayed at the gallery from 10 am – 5 pm. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Kelly’s jewelry is an eclectic blend of metal and mediums juxtaposed between art and fashion. Kelly designs and carves models for all the metalwork out of wax and clay. These “masters” are cast out of a pewter alloy to create all the metal elements. The finished piece is plated with sterling silver, 24K gold or copper. Kelly prefers this additional finish over the base metal because it dresses up the piece and adds sparkle and value. All of Kelly’s pieces are meticulously filled by hand with crystals and other small embellishments creating unique and beautiful pieces that are all made in the USA.

“While my work has been sometimes described as vintage looking, it is really more transitional, drawing from both contemporary and vintage aspects,” says Kelly.

In addition to the jewelry trunk show, Edgewood’s 16th annual “Gifts from the Heart” group show continues until the gallery closes for the 2014 season on Nov. 2.

Edgewood Orchard Galleries, open daily 10 am – 5 pm, is located at 4140 Peninsula Players Rd. between Juddville and Fish Creek. For more information visit edgewoodorchard.com or call 920.868.3579.
