Michael Perry to Speak at WWA Conference

Humorist, best-selling author, musician, and radio personality, Wisconsin native Michael Perry will bring his off-beat yet folksy charm to the 66th annual Wisconsin Writers Conference Oct. 2-4 at the Mead Hotel & Conference Center in Wisconsin Rapids, sponsored by the Wisconsin Writers Association (WWA).

Perry will share his experiences “Writing from the Middle of Nowhere” in his keynote address during the WWA’s Jade Ring Writing Contest Awards Banquet on Oct. 3. The Jade Ring contests awards prizes in four categories, humor, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. More than 170 entries were received for this year’s contests.

In addition, “What Poetry Can Teach Writers of Any Genre” and “Poets’ Anthology—a Collective Effort” will be featured workshops at the 2015 WWA Conference. Estella Lauter, Nancy Rafal, and other members of the Door County Poets Collective will speak during “Poets’ Anthology—a Collective Effort” about the process of putting the anthology, Soundings—Door County in Poetry together and will read from the book.

Also on the schedule are panel discussions on “Writing for Kids;” “The Reality of Fantasy Writing;” and “Self-Publishing Success Stories.” Prose and poetry critique sessions are also planned.
