Michelle Hefty Leads Mammal Tracking Class

Michelle Hefty, carnivore tracking extraordinaire from Newport State Park, will lead a free mammal tracking class. This class will cover common mammal tracks, carnivore ecology, and an in-field tracking and howling demonstration. On Feb. 8, 2:30 – 5:30 pm at Newport State Park, the class will go into detail on wolf and carnivore tracking and ecology as well as the carnivore tracking program through the Wisconsin DNR. Participants will learn how to properly track large carnivores and how they can become more involved with the state monitoring program. The class will conclude with a live wolf and coyote calling demonstration at dusk. Call The Ridges at 920.839.2802 to register.
