Michigan Street Bridge Temporary Closing June 16

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Northeast Region is announcing the Michigan Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay will close to all traffic from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 16, for measurements of bridge components.

The measurements are to assist bridge engineers with dimensions for support beams damaged in a vehicle strike. Measurements necessary to replace the beams will then be used to manufacture replacement parts. A backhoe being towed by a semi-truck struck multiple overhead support beams on Friday, April 22 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The date for the measurements has been changed from Wednesday to Thursday due to forecasted inclement weather.

Motorists can use the Maple Street/Oregon Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay to cross the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal.
