Midsِmmar Celebration at Clay Bay Pottery

David Aurelius creates a large pot at Clay Bay Pottery.

Clay Bay Pottery in Ellison Bay invites the community to a “Midsِmmar” celebration on June 21, 5 – 8 pm. Jeanne and David Aurelius have created new pieces incorporating the themes associated with the traditional Swedish festival celebrating the longest day of the year.

Fellow potters Mary Deneen and Martha Winter from Maiden Rock, Wisc. will be on hand along with their unique ladies and wall pieces. Also joining this talented group is Peder Hegland from Sartell, Minn. Hegland uses Georgia brown clay that highlights his signature abstract designs.

On June 22, 1 – 3 pm, the artists will offer demonstrations on throwing and decorating techniques. The artists will also answer questions about their work. Guests will also enjoy unique art, Scandinavian refreshments and Swedish toasts to the longest day of the year.

Clay Bay Pottery, located at 11650 Highway 42, is at its summer-ready best—stocked with wine coolers, mugs, casseroles, and bowls along paintings and jewelry by regional artists familiar to Clay Bay customers. For more information call 854.5027.
