Midsummer Music Presents Gaudete Brass Quintet

The Gaudete Brass Quintet will perform for the first time in Door County this December. Gaudete Brass Quintet has committed itself to presenting brass chamber music through compelling concerts. The musicians, Bill Baxtresser and Ryan Berndt, trumpets; Julia Filso, horn; Paul Von Hoff, trombone, and Scott Tegge, tuba, have performed at venues such as Symphony Space in New York City and Millennium Park in Chicago and appeared on radio broadcasts on WFMT, Chicago and Nashville Public Radio.

While keeping a rigorous performance schedule, the quintet has recorded three albums. Their most recent, Chicago Moves, may receive nominations at the 56th annual Grammy Awards in four categories.

In addition to having served as Artists-in-Residence at Carthage College in Kenosha and presenting composition workshops to young artists at Columbia College and Roosevelt University in Chicago, the quintet has also presented educational programs at prominent institutions including The Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music and Vanderbilt University.

Midsummer’s Music will present three ‘family friendly’ holiday concerts by the Gaudete Brass Quintet beginning at 7 pm on Dec. 12 at the Sister Bay Moravian Church, where good will offerings will be accepted. A concert will also be held on Dec. 13 at the Old Gibraltar Town Hall in Fish Creek. This concert will be followed by a reception and tickets are priced at $25 for adults, $10 for students and free for children.

A premier holiday dinner/concert event will take place at Max Supper Club on Dec. 14, with a silent auction during intermission. The package price is $60 per person. Reservations for the pre-concert dinner are required in advance. Concert only tickets are priced at $25 for adults, $10 for students and free for children. Maxwelton Braes Lodge will be offering special room rates for the weekend.
