Midsummer’s Labor Day Concerts

Midsummer’s Music Festival’s Labor Day concert series features seven concerts taking place over seven days, beginning Aug. 26.

Three trios of French influence compile Turmoil and Repose Program G. Works by Phillippe Gaubert, Édouardo Lalo and Camille Saint-Saens will be performed on August 26 at 7:30 pm at the Ephraim Moravian Church; an afternoon concert on Aug. 30 at 3 pm at The Clearing Schoolhouse in Ellison Bay and the final performance on Aug. 31 at 7:30 pm at the United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay.

The Overflowing Genius Program H, by Anton Eberl, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johannes Brahms, continues with a special offering of a dinner concert on Aug. 28, which combines a 6:30 pm concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sister Bay followed by a dinner at the Mission Grille. Patrons will be transported between venues via Door County Trolley. The concert may be attended individually for $30 or the concert/dinner combo is available for $95. The program will be repeated on Aug. 29 at 7:30 pm at Björklunden in Baileys Harbor.

The Labor Day series culminates Sept. 1, in a final performance of the Overflowing Genius program at the Alpine Resort in Egg Harbor as a joint benefit with Write On, Door County and Midsummer’s Music. The concert will be paired with a reading by Door County Poet Laureate, Estella Lauter. Hof Restaurant will provide food for a reception and dinner after the concert. To add some extra fun to the event, a silent auction and wine pull will take place. A limited number of tickets remain for this event and they are $95.
