The Midsummer’s Music Festival in Door County brings together truly world-class musicians to perform chamber concerts in cozy and unique venues all over the peninsula. For example, the concerts take place in venues ranging from a Grand Parlor of a multi-million dollar palatial home in Ellison Bay, to a rustic barn that has fantastic acoustics, or a lakeside warehouse from the 1880s.

The musicians are drawn from the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Aspen Music Festival, the Chicago Philharmonic, and the highly respected Pro Arte Quartet. One of the nicest parts about this festival is audience members have many chances to mingle with them throughout the festival.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Bursting with Passion” and will include works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Brahms, and more. Now in its 23rd year, the main concert series featuring the full complement of 16 musicians runs from June 7 through July 17. There is a short Labor Day series, Aug. 28 – Sept. 1.

The festival kicks off with a Gala Opening Night at Birch Creek in Egg Harbor on June 7, which includes champagne, chocolate, guest speakers, a concert, and post-concert reception. Guests will be whisked away to an English Garden for the opening night premiere, featuring works of Vaughan Williams and Charles Villiers Sanford. The evening will end on a relaxed note when patrons can meet the Midsummer’s Music Festival musicians and chat with fellow concertgoers at the post premiere party.

Tickets for Gala Opening Night are $35. For a complete list of events visit midsummersmusic.com or call 920.854.7088.
