Midsummer’s Music Presents Two Free Winter Concerts

Midsummer’s Music Festival presents two free winter concerts featuring Madison Bach Musicians and Sevastopol School madrigal singers. The two concerts will be held Dec. 18 at 7:30 pm at the Old Gibraltar Town Hall in Fish Creek, and Dec. 19 at 3 pm at Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay. Both performances are open to the public and will be followed by receptions.

The festive repertoire includes familiar holiday tunes in addition to Madison Bach Musicians’ Baroque standards, with pieces from Handel, Vivaldi and Bach. Student madrigal singers from Sevastopol School will perform “Greensleeves” and “Passtime” with the Madison Bach Musicians, as well as an a cappella version of the Spanish villancico “Ríu Ríu Chíu.”

Midsummer’s Music Festival’s Assistant Artistic Director Allyson Fleck and Marketing Director Russ Warren began coordinating plans between Madison Bach Musicians violinist Kangwon Kim and Sevastopol School music teachers Cheryl Pfister and Tanja Hasenjager in July. Warren said, “We feel very fortunate to collaborate with Madison Bach Musicians and Sevastopol School for these concerts. It’s an excellent opportunity for the students to work with some of the top classical musicians in the country, and right in their own hometown!”

Present concert sponsors include the MMG Foundation, Thrivent Financial, Innovative Printing, OneTouchPoint, Sweetie Pies, Raibrook Foundation and Rozanna’s Violins. For more information visit midsummersmusic.com.
