Midsummer’s Music to Present “Holiday Brass!”

Midsummer’s Music is pleased to present “Holiday Brass!” on December 8 and 9, featuring the Wisconsin Brass Quintet from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

“This is a new and exciting program,” said Midsummer’s Artistic Director Jim Berkenstock. “We learned about the Wisconsin Brass Quintet last winter and knew they would be a perfect addition to the Door County holiday season. This will be a more traditional program that everyone can enjoy.”

Midsummer’s Music will present the first of two concerts at Sister Bay Moravian Church on December 8 at 7 pm. “This is the only Door County holiday concert featuring musicians who have performed at Carnegie Hall,” added Berkenstock. “This is a must-see event, and we encourage families to attend.” There is a suggested goodwill offering of $10 per adult.

Bjorklunden will host the December 9 gala event, which features a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception, a catered dinner by Alexander’s, and the “Holiday Brass!” concert. The event will begin at 5 pm; tickets are $70 per person, all inclusive. Advance reservations are required.

The Wisconsin Brass Quintet is part of the Arts Outreach Program of UW Madison. Their repertoire numbers over 250 works from all periods and styles, including numerous compositions and arrangements by three of the quintet members.
