Miller Art Museum Schedules Summer Art Classes

The Miller Art Museum (MAM) will once again be hosting summer art classes for children and adults. The classes are scheduled for July 9 – 12 and July 16 – 19. Anyone interested in attending the classes may pick-up a schedule at the MAM or the Door County Library, as well as call for a brochure to be mailed. Classes are limited to ten individuals, so early registration is encouraged.

Kids Classes:

• Nifty Necklaces w/Linda LeClair on July 9: Youngsters will work with lo-temp enamels on metal and create beautiful twistee wire beads to make a “nifty necklace.” $15*

• Treasure Chests w/Linda LeClair on July 10: Students will create their own one-of-a-kind design with a wood-burning pen on the chest top. $15*

• Caw, Caw, Tweet, Chirp w/Linda LeClair on July 16: Using Crayola model magic, students will make bird sculptures and a tree so that their bird has somewhere to perch. $15*

• “Uhn…Gua…Wah” Make Magic Bracelets! w/Linda LeClair on July 17: Students very own caveman, Door County rock and other supplies will be provided; however, students should bring a hammer and safety glasses from home. $15

There is a $5 discount for children who sign up for two classes, so the price for two classes will only be $25.

Teen and Adult Classes:

• Watercolor and Ink w/Ed Fenendael on July 9: Students will enjoy a talk and demonstration by Fenendael, and then they will work on an image of their own with Fenendael’s individualized attention. Please bring 140lb. cold press paper, pencil and reference materials for ideas (Ed will have pens for $2). $25

• So, you think you can’t draw? w/Michael Nitsch on July 11 and 18: This two-session class will be about basic drawing. Students will learn a few terms, skills and ideas to help with their drawing. Bring a bag lunch, questions and energy. $45*

• Wild Wire Jewerly w/Linda LeClair on July 12: This class helps students design a one-of-a-kind pendant, necklace or earrings by using silver, copper and brass wire, as well as beach glass and beads. Everything will be supplied; but, if you have some beads you would like to use, bring them along. Also, bring a bag lunch. $30

• Painting your Whim w/Elaine Cregan on July 16: Experienced to beginner painters are welcome as Cregan will demo basics of mixing colors, composition and shadows. Bring your own supplies; however, if students don’t have any, they are encouraged to come anyway as Cregan has extra supplies and students can pay her for what they use. $18

• Sculpture for the Garden w/Linda LeClair on July 19: Metal forming techniques of copper tooling and repousse will create a unique garden sculpture. Bring a bag lunch. $30*
