Man Lying in Road Struck, Killed Near Sister Bay

A 56 year-old Milwaukee man was killed Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle while reportedly lying in the road, according to a press release from the Door County Sheriff’s Department.
At approximately 11:40 pm, a 36 year-old Sister Bay man was driving east on Hill Road in the town of Liberty Grove and struck the man, identified Tuesday as David J. Marsek of Milwaukee, east of Hillcrest Road. It is unknown why Marsek would have been lying in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol is believed to have been a factor, according to an update from the Door County Sheriff’s Department.
Hill Road was closed until 7:15 am Monday while officers processed the crash scene. The Door County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by a reconstruction specialist from the Wisconsin State Patrol in investigating the crash.
