‘Miss Holmes’ Pre-show Seminar

Peninsula Players Theatre, in conjunction with its production of Christopher M. Walsh’s Miss Holmes, will host Agatha Christie scholar Dr. Christopher Chan on July 21 at 6:30 pm. Chan, a Lawrence University graduate and Agatha Christie website editor, will speak about the female characters in the canon of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes series. Tickets to performances are available and admission to the pre-show seminar is free.

Chan teaches online graduate history classes and works as an International Goodwill Ambassador for the official Agatha Christie website, agathachristie.com. He also writes for the magazine Gilbert at chesterton.org, which specializes in book and television reviews in addition to writing historical and critical essays on Agatha Christie’s work.

Miss Holmes is based on Conan Doyle’s characters and features a female Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who are intelligent, brave and independent women in Victorian London. These unconventional professionals help a young wife whose husband, a corrupt high-ranking Scotland Yard investigator, is suspected of murdering his previous two wives.

Peninsula Players Theatre is committed to providing educational programming for the community. The theater continues to offer backstage tours and post-show discussions as listed in the program and website.
