Miss Wisconsin Reads at Children’s Center

Northern Door Children’s Center in Sister Bay celebrated National Week of the Young Child April 10 – 16 by bringing attention to the importance and value of early literacy. The focus this year is on the work of renowned children’s author and illustrator David Shannon, famous for his pirate-themed picture books.

The kick-off of the week was a “Pirate’s Breakfast” on Monday April 11, featuring pirate gear and Buccaneer Banana Bread. Miss Wisconsin Kimberly Sawyer read Pirates Don’t Change Diapers by Shannon, to a group of enthralled two through five-year-old students at the center.
