Mixed Media and Sculptural Art at Meadows Gallery

“Lineman (nuthatch),” by Tom Seagard.

As the Meadows Gallery grows, the Door County art community grows. For January, the gallery will feature the works of five artists, and the community is invited to the opening reception on Jan. 11 from 5 to 7 pm.

Ernest Beutel, Marcia Nickols and Tom Seagard are mixed media artists that have been working together for more than thirteen years. The partnership is a collaboration of ideas, friendship, and enthusiasm. Processes are shared and used to make coffee, wire, copper, spray paint, acetone and tempera paint work as fine art material. Each artist makes unique images that work well when displayed together.

George Ouimette and Keith Carter make pottery that transcends traditional function to make sculptural statements that offer the viewer with a new visual experience.

This show begins the 2014 season – a season full of wonderful exhibits. In February, husband and wife artists Loraine and Don Brink will show their work in an exhibit titled, “Life’s Work.” In July, at least ten Door County women artists will show their varied works in a show called “Renaissance Women.”

The Meadows Art Gallery, open daily 10 am – 5 pm, is located in Scandia Village at the top of the hill in Sister Bay, off Highway 57.
