Mixed Media

On Aug. 30 and 31, from 10 am to 5 pm, Gills Rock Coffee (formerly the home of Charlene’s Gallery Ten) will hold Gills Rock ArtFest.

More than 15 artists will display their works in many different media. These artists formerly displayed work at Charlene’s Gallery Ten: Ray Kapfamer, Anne Nikolai Kloss, Norm Knott, Marcia Nickols, Joe Hernandez, Mark Haberle, Chris Heffel Meissner, Kris Franzke, Joni Rae Doyle and David Franke.

New this year are “The Sistaz,” Marci Braun, Sue Jankowsi and Audrey Kramer from the Fox Valley. They will demonstrate different rug-hooking techniques, and have many finished pieces for sale. Baileys Harbor local Sue Donohoo, of Soo Hoo Artwear, will showcase her collection of wearable art. Photographers Denny Moutray and Steven and Arlene Stanger will exhibit color and black and white photography. Dee Santorini will be working the wheel, throwing clay pots.

Entertainment will be provided by local guitarist Bill Gonnsen, who writes some of his own songs in the genres of folk, country and traditional.

Bayside Bakery and Café will provide a food tent serving sandwiches and made-from-scratch bakery. Gills Rock Coffee will be open extended hours on both days, from 8 am to 5 pm, offering specialty coffee drinks, and showcasing Charlene’s now famous Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie.
