Monarch Tagging at Crossroads

Crossroads at Big Creek will host a screening of CSI Milwaukee – a video of a lecture by Kevin Shafer, executive director of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District – on Sept. 6, 3:30 pm, in the Collins Learning Center.

Then join Crossroads for monarch tagging Sept. 7, 2 pm. In collaboration with Wild Ones of the Door Peninsula, Crossroads will host guest naturalist Karen Newbern, who will present a program in the lecture hall. Participants will then go outside to catch and tag butterflies on their way to Mexico. Tags and nets will be provided. Meet in the Collins Learning Center.

Hike in the Ida Bay Preserve on Sept. 8, 4 pm: a gentle ramble to see the changes in the landscape as we work toward mitigating buckthorn and honeysuckle. Meet at the parking lot at the intersection of Canal Road and Buffalo Ridge Trail.

The Collins Learning Center, 2041 Michigan Street, is open weekdays, 10 am – 4 pm; and weekends, 1-4 pm. The trails and restrooms are free and open to the public 24/7.
