Money Management Counselors Presents to 77 Women

Thanks to a grant from the Women’s Fund of Door County, Money Management Counselors powered by FI$C was able to provide six new educational presentations to 77 women and girls covering a variety of financial literacy topics during the 2013-14 funding cycle. From the Door County Women in Business group to senior citizens on Washington Island, women and girls learned about money management basics, self-sufficiency and financial literacy as well as intergenerational money issues.

At the Mothers of Preschooler (MOPS) gathering, women learned the step-by-step basics of a spending plan. Five women in the Door County Jail had a Q&A session about managing money and dealing with creditors after their release. Senior citizens on Washington Island learned that Money Management Counselors provides confidential, non-judgmental budget and credit counseling to people of all income levels. The Door County Women in Business group benefitted from a presentation covering statistics about what women still need to learn about money and local trends when working with women and money issues.
