Monfils Records Two Firsts at Redwing Invite

Door County United (DCU) boys swimmer Jack Monfils won two individual events at Saturday’s seven-team Redwing Invitational hosted by Sheboygan South High School.

Monfils placed first in the 200-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 2 minutes, 9.33 seconds, and also won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.89).

He teamed up with Race Kasten, Colton Blackley and Logan Filar to place second in the 200 medley relay (1:48.18).

Kasten placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (59.45) and fifth in the 50 freestyle (23.9).

DCU’s other top-eight finishes included:

• Kasten, Filar, Ezra Linnan and George Atwell, sixth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:41.58).

• Blackley, Monfils, Branden Neubauer and Tre Wienke, seventh in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.45).

• Linnan, seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:04.48).

• Filar, eighth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.95) and 100 freestyle (54.89).

“There were a lot of solid swims, and some events that raked in big points for us,” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson.

DCU finished sixth in the team standings, with the order of finish being: 1. Sheboygan North (490); 2. Marshfield (389); 3. Sheboygan South (329); 4. Ashwaubenon (304); 5. Green Bay United (252); 6. DCU (243); and Plymouth (242).

DCU’s next meet is Thursday at Plymouth.
