More Broadband for Rural Kewaunee County

Luxemburg – A new Bug Tussel Wireless tower has gone live to deliver wireless internet service to areas west of Kewaunee and south of Luxemburg.

Kewaunee County and Bug Tussel Wireless officials celebrated the first steps of the project’s success with a Sept. 24 ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Ryan’s Corner Tower, N4559 Cty AB in Luxemburg.

Dan Olson, Kewaunee County Board chair; Scott Feldt, Kewaunee County administrator; Kewaunee Area Chamber of Commerce officials; and others attended the event.

“This service is a vast improvement over what has been previously available to people in rural areas of the county,” Olson said.

Kewaunee County has been working with Bug Tussel Wireless since 2019 to provide high-speed internet access to the area by erecting new towers, installing equipment on existing towers and building a fiber route.

With grant money from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, Bug Tussel Wireless has now constructed seven towers in Kewaunee County, providing services to those who were previously underserved or couldn’t receive services. The grant money enables the company to offer service at reduced rates.

“This is the first step in making Kewaunee County even more attractive to families and businesses,” Feldt said.
