More Trees Needed for Kewaunee County Fairgrounds

The Kewaunee County Fairgrounds will have a bit more shade in the coming years, with a dozen trees recently planted by the Kewaunee County Fair Board in an effort to spur community donations to spruce up green space.

The request to plant the trees by the Kewaunee County Fair Board was unanimously approved by the Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Committee in September.

The 12 trees bought by the Kewaunee County Fair Board for $1,500 were delivered last weekend by Blahas Nursery of Two Rivers and members of the Kewaunee County Fair Board, as well as a local contractor, donated their time, digging holes and planting a variety of elm, locust and maple trees around the property in Luxemburg.

“We all use the facilities and we’ve been cutting down trees for years and years and we’ve got to start putting them back,” according to Jane Theys, Kewaunee County Fair Board member. “Hopefully, we can get people to donate as a memoriam for somebody who has passed.”

The Kewaunee County Fair Board would like to plant 10-12 additional trees next year.
