Mosquito Mania at The Ridges

Mosquito Mania will take place on August 12 and 13 at The Ridges.

On August 12, activities will kick off with a presentation, “Mosquitoes: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” by Dr. Mike Draney, who will discuss mosquitoes’ life cycles, ecology, and roles in natural systems. The free presentation will begin at 7 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.

Mosquito Mania continues on Friday, August 13 with a variety of activities at The Ridges. From noon – 4 pm, participants may build bat houses for $15, play games, study mosquitoes, and test repellent. There will be mosquito-related food and refreshments available.

Also, The Red Cross will conduct a blood drive at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall from 11 am – 3 pm. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call Carol at 920.839.2802 or call 1.800.GIVE LIFE.

And finally, at 8 pm, a Bat Watch will be held near the Ridges’ Nature Center.

During the Mosquito Mania weekend, The Ridges is waiving their regular trail fees. From August 12 – 15, visitors can hike the trails at no cost.
