Movies That Matter Series Presents “A Separation”

A Separation will be shown at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Nov. 20 at 4:30 pm.

Set in contemporary Iran, this film is a compelling drama about the dissolution of a marriage. Simin wants to leave Iran with her husband Nader and daughter Termeh. Simin files for divorce when Nader refuses to leave behind his Alzheimer’s-suffering father. Her request having failed, Simin returns to her parents’ home, but Termeh decides to stay with Nader. Nader hires a young woman to assist with his father in his wife’s absence, and he hopes that his life will return to normal. He soon discovers the maid has been lying to him and there might be more on the line than just his marriage.

The film will be followed by a discussion and is part of the monthly Movies That Matter series examining a wide range of issues.

The UU Fellowship is located at 10341 Highway 42 in Ephraim. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org or call 920.854.7559.
