Movies That Matter Shows “Elephant In The Room”

Elephant In The Room will be aired February 16 at 7 pm at the UU Fellowship, Ephraim.

Shown as part of the Movies That Matter series, this documentary explores the challenges and conflict experienced by gays and lesbians in the Republican Party. Focusing on three individuals, the film reveals the difficulty of being openly gay in a political party that traditionally takes a dim view of the gay lifestyle. Their gayness is only one of the many characteristics that comprise who they are as individuals. Their position is simply this: Why does one’s sexuality require one to accept certain political beliefs? Each of them finds their own way to balance party loyalty with personal fulfillment. The film is directed by Norman Green.
