Multi-generational Artists Display at UU Gallery

“Outside In” by Jennifer Lee.

Artists Franne Dickinson and her granddaughter Jennifer Lee are exhibiting a sampling of their paintings at the UU Gallery, Ephraim, during the month of May.

Dickinson has been painting since she and her husband Duane moved to Door County more than 20 years ago. She gives credit to the Peninsula School of Art as the foundation of her artistic expression. With a background in literature and drama, as well as a love for music, she produces lyrical paintings with floral themes and common people in the genre of their time.

Lee also credits the Peninsula School of Art as the foundation for her success. She has studied advanced classes and has been recognized as an “Emerging Artist.” Lee depicts figures with fun and expressive body language. She loves the freedom of oils as the medium to express the emotion of the moment. Her depiction of figures or still life is often abstracted. Working freely with bold colors, Lee says, “The painting evolves and takes on a life of its own.”

The grandmother/granddaughter duo’s exhibit at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Gallery opens to the public on Sunday, May 2. The Gallery is open Sundays from 11 am – 12:15 pm and on Mondays from 1 – 3 pm. The UU Gallery is located at 10341 Hwy. 42, Ephraim. For more information, visit http://www.uufdc.org.
