Municipal Meetings: Dec. 30 – Jan. 6

DOOR COUNTY

City of Sturgeon Bay: The common council meets at noon on Jan. 3.

County of Door: At the Dec. 27 meeting of the Door County Board of Supervisors, the new state-mandated shoreland zoning ordinance was passed. You can find it on the county Planning Dept.’s website, map.co.door.wi.us/planning/. The ordinance still has to be certified by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, but Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas said he and Planning Director Mariah Goode have worked closely with the DNR in drafting the plan and he believes it will be approved at the state level.

Town of Gibraltar: The town board meets at 7 pm on Jan. 4.

Town of Liberty Grove: The town board meets at 7 pm on Jan. 4. 

Town of Sturgeon Bay: The town board meets at 7 pm on Jan. 2.

Town of Washington: John Rader has announced his candidacy for town chairman of the Town of Washington on the 2017 ballot. Rader mentioned his experience in the private sector as the Field and Legislative Director of the Public Expenditure Survey of Wisconsin – a government research firm. He also cited his work running a Division in the State Department of Revenue (State and Local Finance Division) that deals with local government issues such as manufacturing and local assessments along with shared revenue and special taxes. Rader also served as Deputy State Treasurer for the State of Wisconsin. “A number of people have suggested that I run, I believe my expertise and experience can be a great asset to the Washington Island community.” Rader’s local activities include serving as treasurer of the Island Lions Club, president of the Island Sportsman’s Club, board member of the Washington Island Foundation, Washington Island Education Foundation, the Ted and Lou Ann Jessen Foundation and a member of the Town Board for the past four years.

Village of Egg Harbor: The Parks & Public Works Committee meets at 8:30 am on Jan. 4.

Village of Sister Bay: The Parks Committee meets at 5:30 pm on Jan. 4.

KEWAUNEE COUNTY

City of Algoma: The common council meets at 6 pm on Jan. 3.

County of Kewaunee: The Land & Water Committee meets at 9 am on Jan. 3. The Extension & Zoning Committee meets at 3 pm on Jan. 4. The Highway Committee meets at 8:45 am on Jan. 5.
