Municipal News: Local Spring Ballots Taking Shape

City of Sturgeon Bay: The following candidates have filed papers for seats on the city council in the spring election – District 1, Danny Wiegand (incumbent), 
Gerald Pelrine and
 Kelly Catarozoli; District 3, Ed Ireland (incumbent); District 5, Jerry Stults (incumbent); District 7, Bob Schlicht (incumbent).

Town of Baileys Harbor: Town Chair Don Sitte, Town Supervisors Roberta Thelen and Peter Jacobs, and Town Constable Mark Merrill are all running unopposed in the spring election.

Town of Brussels: Town Chair Joe Wautier and Supervisor Joel Daoust are running unopposed in the spring election. Incumbent Supervisor Mark Marchant is being challenged by former supervisor Galen DeJardin. Clerk JoAnn Neinas, constable Matt Phillips and treasurer Lois Maedke are all running unopposed.

Town of Clay Banks: Town Chair Myron Johnson, supervisors Mark Heimbecher and Patrick Olson, clerk Jessica Bongle, and treasurer Candace Kolstad are unopposed in the spring election.

Town of Egg Harbor: Incumbent Town Chair Paul Peterson has no opposition in the spring election. Supervisor Bob Mueller filed non-candidacy papers. Two people are running for that position, Terry Havel and Dale Wiegand. Supervisor Myles Dannhausen, Sr., will run unopposed.

The town board will hold its monthly meeting at 7 pm on Jan. 19.

Town of Gardner: All incumbents are running unopposed in the spring election, including Chair Jon Koch, supervisors Glen Merkle and Carl Waterstreet, treasurer Nancy Robillard, clerk Amy Sacotte and Constable Jim Kluth.

Town of Gibraltar: The candidates for supervisor are uncontested. Two candidates filed for chair, incumbent Brian Merkel and Dick Skare.

Town of Jacksonport: Supervisor Randy Halstead has submitted papers for town chairman, to replace Alvin Birnschein. Incumbent Tom Wilson will run unopposed, and Tim Bley has filed for the supervisor position to be vacated by Halstead.

Town of Liberty Grove: The town board meets at 7 pm on Jan. 21.

Town of Sevastopol: There will be two town board supervisor positions and the chair office for election this spring. For supervisor, two incumbents – Dick Weidman and John Staveness –have filed candidacy papers, along with Tony Haen. So it will be a vote for no more than two on the ballot. Current town board chair Leo Zipperer filed his papers for another term.

The town board meets at 7 pm on Jan. 19.

Town of Union: Candidates for Spring Election include John Bur and Dennis Counard (incumbent) running for town chair; Bruce Alberts and Donald Spude submitted papers for supervisor 1; David Jeanquart and Jeff LeGrave filed for supervisor 2; incumbents Rena LaLuzerne and Denise Englebert are running unopposed for clerk and treasurer, respectively.

The town board meets at 6:30 pm on Jan. 20.

Town of Washington Island: Incumbent supervisors John W. Rader and Randall S. Sorensen are running unopposed in the spring election. Noel S. Ryder and James F. Hanson are running for town board chair, replacing outgoing chair Joel Gunnlaugsson.

Village of Egg Harbor: Three village board positions are open for the spring election. Village President Joe Smith and two trustees, Robert Dickson & T.C. Johnson, are running unopposed.

The village Utility Committee meets at 10 am on Jan. 21.

Village of Forestville: Incumbents Don Londo and Scott Pinchart are running unopposed for village trustee positions. Village President Terry McNulty has already run the three terms allowed. Write-in candidates will be on the ballot for village president.

Village of Sister Bay: All village incumbents are running unopposed, including village President David Lienau and trustees John Clove, Scott Baker and Shane Solomon.

The village Marketing Committee meets at 3 pm on Jan. 20.
