Municipal News, Sept. 11: Jacksonport Host Informational Session on Water Quality

Town of Jacksonport: The Environmental Committee is hosting a public information session on water quality and manure handling at 6 pm on Sept. 14, with Gregory T. Kleinheinz, R.S., Ph.D.,Viessmann Chair of Sustainable Technology, Professor, Environmental Engineering Technology from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh; Bill Schuster and Dale Konkol from the Door County Soil and Water Department; Sue Powers from the Door County Public Health Department.

On Sept. 8, the Jacksonport Plan Commission gave its approval to an expansion plan from Tom Lutsey of Waseda Farms, who said he is in the process of purchasing the Logerquist Farm and has plans to add onto the old Logerquist potato barn for raising chickens and processing eggs. This summer Lutsey and artist Rick Brawner restored the old Logerquist name on the front of the barn facing Logerquist Road. Lutsey said he also plans to clear out the middle of a section of woods on the property as a winter pasture for cows. The Plan Commission also set 8:30 am on the second Monday of each month as its regular meeting time from henceforth.

City of Sturgeon Bay: The Common Council meets at noon on Sept. 15.

County of Door: The Highway Committee meets at 8:30 am on Sept. 14. The Legislative Committee meets at 1 pm on Sept. 14. The Board of Health meets at 4 pm on Sept. 14. The Administrative Committee meets at 8:30 am on Sept. 15. The Human Resources Board meets at 1:30 pm on Sept. 15. The Law Enforcement Committee meets at 8:30 am on Sept. 16. The Land Conservation Committee meets at 8:30 am on Sept. 17. The Resource Planning Commission meets at 2 pm on Sept. 17.

Town of Egg Harbor: The Plan Commission meets at 6 pm on Sept. 14.

Town of Gibraltar: The Building Committee meets at 7 pm on Sept. 14. The Parks and Lands Committee meets at 8 am on Sept. 15. The Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport Commission meets at 9 am on Sept. 17.

Town of Liberty Grove: The Finance Committee meets at 6:30 pm on Sept. 15. The town board meets at 7 pm on Sept. 16.

Town of Sevastopol: The Parks & Recreation Committee meets at 6 pm on Sept. 16.

Village of Egg Harbor: The Public Art Committee meets at 8 am on Sept. 14. The village board meets at 6 pm on Sept. 14. The Utility Committee meets at 10 am on Sept. 16.

Village of Forestville: The village board meets at 6 pm on Sept. 17.

Village of Sister Bay: A joint meeting of the Finance, Parks and Marketing Committee and the Sister Bay Advancement Association regarding Midwest Sunsplash will be held at 6 pm on Sept. 14. The DOT will hold a meeting for businesses at 9 am on Sept. 15. A joint meeting of the village board, Plan Commission and Economic Development Commission will be held regarding way-finding signage at 6 pm on Sept. 15, followed by a meeting of the village board. A town hall meeting regarding way-finding signage will be held at 6 pm on Sept. 16. A pre-Fall Fest meeting for vendors is scheduled for 6 pm on Sept. 17.
