Museum’s Ports of Call Gala April 18

The Door County Maritime Museum will be celebrating its 40th anniversary when it conducts its annual Ports of Call gala Saturday evening, April 18, at the Stone Harbor Resort & Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay.

Ports of Call is the Museum’s flagship fundraising event and again features an extensive menu selection from restaurants throughout the peninsula. More than two dozen establishments are participating in this year’s event, featuring house specialties from hors d’oeuvres, soups and salads to entrees, desserts and refreshments. The complete menu for the evening can be found at http://www.dcmm.org.

Entertainment will be provided by Tangled Up in Blue, UW-Madison’s premiere women’s a cappella ensemble. Every year, sixteen to eighteen enthusiastic female vocalists work together to create music that is truly and uniquely their own.

As in past years, there will be live and silent auctions featuring some remarkable items, many with a nautical theme. In addition, there will be raffles such as “Go Fish” and “Ship’s Wheel Roulette” as well as the last chance at the popular “Freighter Raffle.” This drawing, to be held that night, will provide one lucky person and three other people of his or her choice to take a summer cruise on one of three Central Marine Logistics’ Great Lakes freighters, the Joseph L. Block, Wilfred Sykes, or Edward L. Ryerson). Tickets for this raffle are $20 each or 6 for $100; raffle proceeds will benefit the museum’s annual fund. The winner does not need to be present to win.

Reservations for the Ports of Call Gala are strongly recommended. Tickets are $60 per person and sponsorships are available beginning at $100. Tickets are available http://www.dcmm.org or by calling the Museum at 920.743.5958.
