Music Events at the Outpost

The Door County Outpost has been host to many great national touring artists this season, and that trend continues with a performance by the Squeaky Clean Cretins, a folk and Americana group, on Friday, August 14 at 7:30 pm.

The Cretins call the Lake Superior country of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula home, and if you listen just right, you might hear the rolling waves of the Big Lake woven intricately into the fabric of their songs. The Cretins adhere to the deep roots of folk tradition while adding a contemporary spin to their songwriting. Their music is highly original, rich and heartfelt, with a great stage presence to boot.

On Saturday, August 15 at 7 pm, Door County’s own American Idol-esque talent competition, Fair Trade for Talent, concludes with its Grand Finale. The competition has been whittled from 18 acts to six, with each act competing for a combined prize pool of over $2,000.

Local musicians Emily Rose Bishop and Seth Raddatz occupy two of the final six places, alongside Bill & Kate Isles and Sara Thomsen, both from Minnesota; Jeanne Arrigo from Illinois, and Driftwood Fire, an act from Colorado. The six performances will range in musical styles from acoustic folk, soft bluesy rock, acappella jazz vocals, and more.

Heading up the panel of judges for the Grande Finale will be New York musician Dorothy Scott. Two other prominent local figures will join Scott to select the winner and award a $500 cash prize and a performance contract worth up to $1,000, along with additional incentives provided by the program sponsors and the local business community.
