Musical Memories

For many of us at the Pulse a highlight of this year’s music scene was Brandi Carlile’s amazing show at the Door Community Auditorium. For some of us it was our first real introduction to her, and for others it was a live reminder of what they love about her music. My favorite was GrooveSession’s not-to-miss adventure in Door County, which got people moving all over the peninsula.

This year also featured the usual culprits livening stages from Washington Island to Algoma – like JT and The Clouds, Eric Lewis and Tommy Burroughs, The Nicks, Katie Dahl, and many more. Steel Bridge SongFest continues to bring new musicians into the county, and rumor has it that Nasewaupee Music Festival will be making a comeback next summer.

As winter beckons, music continues to flourish. You can look forward to a new album release from Abnormal Cattle, shows with a new local band the OFFseason featuring Nick Hoover and Josh Gregory, the continuation of open mics throughout the county, folk concerts at the White Gull Inn, “Saturday Afternoon Delight” at Glas Coffee House, Door Community Auditorium’s “Fireside Coffeehouse Concerts,” and there will be a plethora of talent coloring the peninsula like flowers after the spring thaw.
