Fifteen musicians from across the country take to the stage at Door Community Auditorium on July 23 to present Songs of Doc Heide, a celebration of Heide’s 40-year performing career. Co-founder of American Folklore Theatre (AFT), Heide has co-created 20 shows including the musicals Belgians in Heaven, Packer Fans from Outer Space, and Guys & Does.

The evening will focus on previously unrecorded material. The folk-inflected melodies touch on figures from Wild Bill Hickok and Neil Armstrong to AFT co-founder Fred Alley.

Heide, a Kerrville New Folk finalist, will host the event. Lead vocalists are Amy Chaffee, Katie Dahl, Holly Feldman, Laurie Flanigan, Chris Irwin, Steve Koehler, Eric Lewis, Chad Luberger, Karen Mal and Claudia Russell. Instrumentalists include cellist Hans Christian, pianist James Kaplan, percussionist Rich Higdon, and bassist Paul Sowinski.

The show begins at 8 pm, and tickets are $24/adult, $12/students (18 and under). A portion of ticket sales will be donated to AFT. For tickets call 920.868.2728 or visit dcauditorium.org.
