“My Life is a Zoo” Presentation at Southern Door

Carrie DeYoung will present her life building a zoo.

On Feb. 27 at 7 pm the public is invited to the Southern Door Community Auditorium to meet Bud and Carrie of DeYoung Family Zoo, who will give audience members an inside look at the daily delights and challenges of running a zoo. Together they educate the public about animal conservation, battle the harsh winters and blazing summers, and dole out love to the hundreds of rescued animals in their care. During this presentation audience members will come to know and meet some personalities of various animals, presented like well-loved members of the family. Audience members will also hear stories including Wallace the hippo that responds to verbal commands and crushes watermelons between his jaws to impress the crowd. Teddy Bear is the 400-pound black bear rescued from a small enclosure that discovered the wonders of grass beneath his feet and roaming free. For tickets go to sdauditorium.org. Tickets are $7.
