NASA Ambassador Visits NDCC’s Camp Cool

On July 9 & 11, NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) came to the students of Northern Door Children’s Center’s (NDCC) Camp Cool Summer Program. The theme for the week was space and NASA Solar System Ambassador and Baileys Harbor resident Kathy Toerpe brought a program that helped the students think about life both inside and outside of our solar system.

The program included a slideshow featuring the Mars Exploration Rover Missions, and students had the opportunity to design their own Mars Rovers.

On July 12, Toerpe accompanied the Camp Cool students to the Barlow Planetarium at the UW – Fox Valley campus in Menasha. One of Toerpe’s stated goals for the week was to encourage the children to think like scientists – mission accomplished.
