The Natural Beauty of Root and Wood

The Linden Gallery will host a unique exhibition of Chinese figurative root and woodcarvings from July 25 through the end of August. These hardwood treasures were carved by some of southern China’s leading artists and range in size from ten inches tall to more than seven feet in height. The carvings play off the natural shape of the roots and creatively incorporate flaws, burls and embedded stones in each composition. The Lindens personally sourced these artworks for their China-based hotels and were given permission to take 20 pieces to Ellison Bay for this special exhibition to help commemorate their gallery’s 20th year.
