The Ridges Sanctuary has announced open enrollment for its Dragonfly Nature Preschool for the 2022-23 school year, and the program has been expanded to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-11:30 am.
“The expansion of the Dragonfly program comes in the wake of growing recognition of outdoor education,” said Katie Krouse, director of operations at The Ridges, who said the benefits of nature education include improved academic performance, increased physical activity and stress relief. “The program also offers a viable educational alternative to the community as parents weigh the risks of being in a classroom during a pandemic.”
Each semester will run 17 weeks. Orientation will be held Sept. 6-9; semester 1 will run Sept. 12 – Jan. 20; and semester 2 will run Jan. 23 – June 2.
Tuition is $2,300 per year or $1,150 per semester, and scholarships are available. The application process will open in mid-March, and applications will be accepted through June 15.
