Neighbor to Neighbor Serves 1,143 People in 2017

In 2017, 1,143 individuals benefited from services provided by Neighbor to Neighbor. Door County residents saved more than $400,000 in medical expenses by using the organization’s services.  Ninety-four volunteers donated 2,873 hours to facilitate medical equipment loans, serve as peer companions and/or respite care providers to homebound aging individuals, staff the office, serve on the board of directors, and assist with special events.

Neighbor to Neighbor serves residents through their medical equipment loan program in three locations throughout Door County; their peer companion and respite care volunteer programs; and the Lemonade Club, a monthly support group for cancer survivors/patients.

Ann Bennett, executive director, said, “The community’s investment in this organization ultimately keeps hundreds of thousands of dollars in the pockets of Door County residents. Many times, having the appropriate medical equipment or a caring volunteer to visit allows people to safely remain in their own homes and, in many cases, allows for a short break for a family caregiver. Let us know if we can help you.”
