The Door County Community Foundation, Inc. has awarded a grant to Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers from the John & Nell Herlache Community Impact Fund and the Elizabeth “Betty” Lawrence Human Services Fund to support their Medical Equipment Loan Program through the purchase of wheelchairs, extended leg lifts, and loan forms. Neighbor to Neighbor is a local nonprofit organization that provides short-term medical equipment loans for people of all ages, peer companions for homebound elderly or disabled individuals, respite care for primary caregivers, and the Lemonade Club, a cancer survivor support group. All services are provided free of charge.

Neighbor to Neighbor is seeking donations of gently used wheelchairs, transport chairs, knee walkers, and four-wheeled walkers with seats from the community for use within the medical equipment loan program. Neighbor to Neighbor is also in need of volunteers to assist with processing medical equipment loans at the Sturgeon Bay equipment facility. For more information on volunteering or to donate any of these needed items, call 920.743.7800.
