Nelson-Cooper Awarded Social Justice Scholarship

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) has selected Sturgeon Bay High School graduating senior Arleth Nelson-Cooper to receive its 2020 UUFDC $1,000 Social Justice Scholarship

She is being recognized for her extensive social-justice commitments, including service trips assisting as a translator on a medical mission to Honduras, helping with hurricane relief in North Carolina, working with people without homes in New York City and engaging in peer support for mental health in her high school.

Nelson-Cooper exemplifies the commitment to social justice reflected in the founding principles of Unitarian Universalism. Her future plans are to attend UW-Milwaukee and major in anthropology and international studies.
