Town Chair Don Sitte appointed a Nelson’s shopping center property ad hoc committee during the Baileys Harbor Town Board’s first in-person regular meeting in almost a year.
Following the town’s voter-approved October 2021 purchase of the property, Sitte appointed David Eliot as ad hoc committee chair and Dave Smith, Jane Pluff, Paul Salm and Susie Bauldry as committee members. Sitte said Eliot, the previous town chair, suggested that duties should include environmental evaluation and inspection; research for grant opportunities and cost evaluation; and several aspects of study on future uses of the property that’s located next to the town marina.
In other business, the board selected roads to work on this year. Projects include repaving West Meadow Road at a bicyclist-friendly width, repaving the town hall parking lot and repairing blacktop in three cul de sacs in a subdivision at the north end of the Maxwelton Braes golf course and hotel. The board also agreed to emergency repair work at the Bues Point boat ramp, the base of which has been undercut, said Ryan Weisgerber, public works director.
