Neptune’s Car Performs in Woodwalk Series

Holly Hanson and Steve Hayes are Neptune’s Car, an acoustic, original, contemporary folk music duo coming to the Woodwalk Concert Series on July 8 at 7 pm. House band Small Forest will open the show.

Neptune’s Car offers music in a down-to-earth style that is so good the prestigious Great American Song Contest called their song “Fly Fishing the Big Hole,” “…vivid, focused and engaging…. It’s a pleasure to hear songs of this caliber.”

Hanson’s light soprano blends perfectly with Hayes’s warm tenor. Vibrant lyrics and compelling melodies nestle in inviting arrangements, telling stories rich in detail.

The name Neptune’s Car comes from the true story of a clipper ship that successfully navigated around Cape Horn to San Francisco by a pregnant Mary Patten fending off mutiny and caring for a sick husband in 1857.

Their songs have charted on the folk-DJ list, and in 2015, The 45th Parallel was number 20 on the CD chart.
