New Appreciation of Familiar Things

Photography by Jim Rossol.

Award-winning fine art photographer Jim Rossol is exhibiting through May 31 in the Lobby Gallery at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay. The exhibition may be seen during scheduled performances of Maid to Marry.

Rossol won second place Judges Choice in the 2010 Around the County photo contest and received Photography of Note designation in the 2014 Peninsula Pulse Hal Prize competition. He has frequently been juried into the Guenzel Gallery at the Peninsula School of Art and The Hardy Gallery for public exhibitions.

“My photographs depict an interpretation of my visual world and can be representational, abstract or somewhere in between. I intend for my representational work to enable you with a new awareness and appreciation of familiar things layered with emotional and textural interpretation. My abstraction utilizes essence to convey a new way of seeing. By accentuating the importance of line and shape, I try to bring you a new interpretation of either things you’ve previously seen or enable you to be aware of something never really seen,” said Rossol.

Rossol’s portfolio can be seen at jimrossol.artistswebsites.com. Third Avenue Playhouse is at 239 N. Third Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. For more information, call 920.743.1760 or visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
